Opera Screening in the Park

The Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, UC Davis and the Crocker Art Museum will present a free screening of the San Francisco Opera’s production of Puccini’s most beloved opera, La Bohème. The event is scheduled for Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 8 p.m. in Sacramento’s Crocker Park (201 O Street).

The screening follows the Museum’s July 12th Art Mix event, Red Hot & Bohemian, which begins at 5 p.m. Patrons are encouraged to enjoy activities and food in the Crocker Art Museum from 5–8 p.m. and then bring blankets and chairs across the street to Crocker Park for the screening at 8 p.m. There is no alcohol allowed in Crocker Park. For more information on Art Mix activities, visit crockerartmuseum.org.

La Bohème is part of the San Francisco Opera Grand Opera Cinema Series and features a 2008 performance conducted by Nicola Luisotti, San Francisco Opera's music director. The heartwarming story of starving artists falling in and out of love in 19th-century Paris is a seamless mix of romantic passion, poignant tragedy and high spirited fun. The outstanding cast is headed by superstar Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu as the ill-fated Mimì and by Polish tenor Piotr Beczala as her lover, the poet Rodolfo. The opera is sung in Italian with English subtitles. Running time is 123 minutes.

Subscriptions for the 2012–13 Mondavi Center season are on sale now at 866-754-2787 and at MondaviArts.org. Single tickets for all 2012–13 performances will go on sale August 10, 2012. Full schedule and images are available for download at: http://www.MondaviArts.org/pressroom.
