Local all-stars The Honeybadgers play Thursday Live!

Watermelon Music’s home grown band, The Honeybadgers, will headline the March 1st Thursday Live!
Opening up the evening will be The Twanglers.
The shows start at 7:30 p.m. at the Davis Odd Fellows Hall located at 415 Second Street. This show will be in the newly remodeled upstairs hall which is well suited for dancing. All shows are free and open to all ages.

Thursday Live! is a continuing series of concerts held the first Thursday of every month at the Davis Odd Fellow Hall.

The Honeybadgers are a group of musicians who are all associated with Watermelon Music. They play a mix of Blues based music, including Rhythm & Blues.

The band members are:
Jeff Simons - Bass, Vocals and owner Watermelon Music and has played with Anton Barbeau, Bill Scholer, !Akimbo, Linda Book and various bands over the past 2 decades. Jeff is originallyfrom Merced in the Central Valley.

Ron Cowden - Guitar, Vocals and owner of Watermelon Music, is tall, grew up in Davis, and has played in various bands locally since the late 1970's. A few of these bands are; Roommates, Weird Harold, Bill Scholer and Biscuits 'n Honey

Leo Adamian - Drums and Drum Department Manager at Watermelon Music. He is from New York where he played and recorded professionally. Leo has played with many, many wonderful musicians over the decades and is fun to Google. Remember the “Pina Colada” song? That’s Leo on drums.

Scott Morris - Guitar, Vocals , and Guitar instructor at Watermelon Music. Scott was raised in Sacramento and has played with various bands from the Sacramento and Bay areas.

Al Qahhar – Guitar - has been a long time customer and friend of Watermelon
Music. Al has been a guitar student of Scott Morris’ for the past several years concentrating on Blues Guitar.

The Twanglers are a new ensemble comprised of old and new friends. It was in an instant of musical love when these five players found an immediate alignment of tonal, melodic, and rhythmic sensibilities. They call their sound Neo-Americana-Euro-Latin-Blues Fusion.

Jan (pronounced yahn) Peters -Mandolin, Harmonica and Vocals, has recently returned to Davis from playing music for the last 14 years in the Bellingham, Washington area. Many will remember Jan from his years in Davis playing with bands including The Bill Scholer Blues

Band, Di Patterson Sextet, Slaves of Rhythm, and a duo with Joe Craven. You can find out more about Jan on his website http://www.janpetersmusic.org/

Al Vasquez - Percussion and Vocals, has kept busy playing his unique percussive style with many notable area musicians such as Jerry Pineda, Kathy Barwick, and others. He brings a Latin fire as well as superb acoustic sensitivity to any line up he is involved with.

Sean Feder is a well known percussionist and more recently known as a wonderful banjo and dobro player. He’s a founding member of the band Cousin Jack with his wife Rita Hosking. Sean has been a member of Mad Cow String Band, Driving with Fergus, and the Putah Creek Muckrakers.

Don Bassey - Bass, Vocals -is just a darn good bass man and singer. He started playing guitar at the age of 12 in Ann Arbor, MI. Don has been living in the Bay Area and making music there since the 70s.

Don Fox - Finger style Telecaster, Vocals, plays Chickin’ Pickin’ Country as well as he plays the Blues. Don has one of the coolest touches on the Telecaster guitar you'll ever want to hear. His guitar style has tastes of Bill Frisell and John Scofield. He and Al Vasquez were members of the band Loca Mota.

Davis Odd Fellows is part of an international organization whose focus is community support and charitable giving. This series of concerts is supported by: The Odd Fellows Music and Concert Committee, KDRT, and Watermelon Music.
