The City of Davis has announced that the Team LIVESTRONG Challenge Davis fundraising bicycle ride and events will return to Davis for a third year on June 22 -23, 2013.
The 2013 Team LIVESTRONG Challenge Davis activities will be located in Central Park at 3rd and C Streets in downtown Davis. On Sunday, June 23, cyclists will be able to ride four distances ranging from 10 to100 miles, based on their experience and fitness levels, through the beautiful landscape of Northern California. To register for the ride and for event infortmation, visit: www.LIVESTRONG.org
The Team LIVESTRONG Challenge is the LIVESTRONG Foundation’s popular three-part series in their roster of more than 20 athletic events designed to raise funds and awareness for the fight against cancer. The Challenge inspires and empowers individuals, teams, families, friends and co-workers to unite in the fight against cancer. One hundred percent of participant and donor gifts to the Team LIVESTRONG Challenge series go directly to support cancer programs and initiatives. Since 1997, the Challenge events have raised more than $80 million. In June 2012, nearly 1,500 cyclists raised more than $900,000 for the LIVESTRONG Foundation at the second Davis Challenge.
Another attraction planned for the Team LIVESTRONG Challenge riders and others will be the 3rd Annual Davis Music Festival to be held downtown on Saturday, June 22. Local bands will also be entertaining the bicycle riders after they complete their ride the following day.
An integral part of the event is a free-to-the-public LIVESTRONG Challenge Village on the “Green” in Central Park featuring many health-related and information booths. The Village will be open on June 22 in conjunction with the Davis Farmers Market. The Village booths will also be open on June 23 for the public and for post-race food and refreshments.
