Davis Downtown Hosts Forum to Discuss Parking Meters

Davis Downtown invites local businesses and community members to the January 22, 2014 Davis Downtown Brown-Bag to discuss parking meters and management technologies which may be included as part of the parking management plan for downtown Davis.

At the December 13, 2013 Davis City Council meeting, the Davis Downtown Parking Task Force shared with the Council a report containing nineteen recommendations for improving and managing parking resources in the downtown.

Included in the report to the Council was a recommendation to item implement paid parking in a portion of the downtown.

At this Brown Bag meeting, we will discuss various parking meters and technologies used for the implementation of paid parking.

The focus of this meeting will be to understand how each type of parking technology is able to meet usability, reliability, manageability, and sustainability requirements.

“Paid parking in downtown Davis is certainly a possibility,” commented Stewart Savage, Executive Director of Davis Downtown. “If this specific Downtown Parking Task Force recommendation comes to fruition, it would be best if we were ahead of the curve in understanding parking technology options.”
