Who: Catherine Mandella is the performer of “Instruments of the World"

She plays it all: a huge number of international and exotic musical instruments.
While living in Italy she played in a reggae band and also performed with Middle Eastern
musicians. After returning to California, she played tenor sax for the Star Duster’s
Orchestra swing band and sax/flute/percussion for the Orchestra Variedad Salsa-Merengue
band in the Bay Area. Immersing herself in world music, she created Sambandha ~
Music of the World and manages to travel, teach music and eco-musicology, and work
for California as an environmental scientist. “Instruments of the World” is a performance
