Milt Briggs coming to
I-House on June 9
A Sacramento native who was born loving music, Milt Briggs grew up in
rural Sutter County where he fell in love with nature. Today he
combines the two, music and nature, in his performances of vocals,
whistling, poetry and stories with self-accompaniment on guitar and
keyboard.
He will be the featured performer at the International Children's
Storytelling Program on Sunday, June 9 at 2 p.m. The event is free for
I-House members, others are asked for a $2 donation per child or $5
for a family.
"This will be a wonderful event," said Elisabeth Sherwin, executive
director. "If you haven't been in the presence of a champion whistler
before you will definitely enjoy his show."
Briggs' repertoire is wide-ranging and includes standards, classics,
folk, blues and jazz. He is the most prolific composer in the world
for whistling compositions. He shapes whistling into a beautiful
musical art and shows the improvisational possibilities of this human
instrument.
Retired from a career as public school speech therapist, Briggs now
devotes himself exclusively to music and has won numerous awards.
The program is sponsored by Target. For more information phone Sherwin
