(Woodland, CA) – The Yolo Land Trust announces its signature event – A Day in the Country – which will be held this year on September 9, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Terrain Ruisseau. Tickets purchased before September 1 are $85.00.
A Day in the Country features delicious tastings from top chefs representing over 20 restaurants throughout northern California. Each chef creates special dishes featuring food grown on Yolo County’s rich farmland. Farms, ranches and vineyards throughout Yolo County join the chefs in providing food and wine to sample. Live music by the Plainfield Pickers and a special Kid’s Korner round it off to make it an enjoyable day for the whole family.
“A Day in the Country is one event I never miss,” says Supervisor Don Saylor. “It is a wonderful opportunity to join friends on a Sunday afternoon and enjoy Yolo County’s bounty cooked by top chefs. I encourage everyone to support the Yolo Land Trust at this remarkable event.”
Terrain Ruisseau is located on Putah Creek, with an abundance of wildlife and lovely shade trees. Hosts John Pickerel and Melanie Bajakian are opening their property for A Day in the Country.
“We are very happy to showcase our beautifully rustic property,” said John Pickerel. “This will be the first time the public has seen Terrain Ruisseau and we are thrilled to host A Day in the Country. We believe in farmland conservation and the important work of the Yolo Land Trust.”
A Day in the Country celebrates the Yolo Land Trust’s 24 years of farmland conservation. The Yolo Land Trust has worked with willing landowners to permanently conserve nearly 10,000 acres of agricultural land, riparian corridors and Swainson’s hawk habitat in Yolo County, all of which remain in private ownership and on Yolo County’s tax rolls.
