IMPLOSION

IMPLOSION graphic

IMPLOSION is hosted by Nick Saloman, front person of The Bevis Frond. Born and raised in London, England, Nick started buying records as a small child in the late 1950s and began going to gigs and playing in bands as a teen in the late 60s. IMPLOSION is simply an hour of Nick playing the music that he loves (psychedelia, rock, folk, beat, jazz, soul, punk, and more), with a bit of chat thrown in for good measure. Nick says: "If I like it, then there have got to be a few other people who will too.

Davisville, Jan. 12, 2026: With research cuts, ‘this is what you’re giving up’

Wed, 01/14/2026 - 4:00pm | Bill Buchanan

Minds Over Matters logo.png

The Trump administration’s deep cuts to federal spending on university research have prompted Ed Kiggins, who leads communications for the UC Davis College of Letters and Science, to start the Minds Over Matters podcast highlighting research at UC Davis. Every two weeks, he talks with a different UC Davis faculty member about their work and why it matters.

“Think about reducing Alzheimer’s from a death sentence to basically an inconvenience. That’s the kind of work that’s going on here, and that’s what’s on the block right now,” he says today on Davisville. “Those are the things that … the federal government is intent on keeping from you. We don’t really understand why. No one’s really given us a clear answer as to that regard, but our job is not to engage in that battlefield, our job is to say, ‘this is what you’re giving up, if you choose to go down this path.’ “

Hello Davis!, Jan. 7, 2026: The creators of MyDavisCalifornia share their story

Wed, 01/07/2026 - 11:14am | Ned

On today's edition of Hello Davis!, Richard Jia and Gray Eby of MyDavisCalifornia share their insights about the quirky little town we all love, Davis.

MyDavisCalifornia is a full-on content playground: stories, visuals, collaborations, insider tips—the works. Born in 2021 out of sheer enthusiasm (and possibly too much coffee), it’s become the digital buddy you didn’t know you needed for exploring Davis. Davis only has 65,000 residents, but some of its videos have been viewed well into the millions. How’s that for a statement?

The brains behind it? UC Davis alumni Richard Jia and Gray Eby, who somehow turned their Aggie pride into a website that makes the rest of us wonder, “Why didn’t I think of that?”
