Swami Paramanandji guests on 'Speakeasy'

swami Listen to the interview here: http://kdrt.org/node/1679 I had the most unusual opportunity and honor of hosting an enlightened holy man, Swami Paramanandji, in the studio at KDRT today. It was really a privilege and I thank my dear friends Laima, Mary and Sunny for helping it come to pass. The show will repeat next Wed. and will be archived (under Program Archives/Speakeasy) at http://kdrt.org

Speech to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis

July 19, 2009

Good morning. My name is Autumn Labbé-Renault. I’m a UUCD member and executive director of the non-profit organization Davis Media Access, home of KDRT 95.7 FM, our community’s low-power radio station. I’ve been asked to share a bit about my involvement in starting and sustaining KDRT, or as I like to call it, “the little radio station that could.”

Lyrics to "Lovely Moon, Your Silver Light"

Lovely Moon, your silver light
shines on these banks and these flowers,
you inspire the elements
to the language of love;
you alone are witness
to my ardent desire,
and tell the one I love
of my beating heart and my sighing.

Tell her that distance
cannot ease my pain,
and that if I cherish one hope
it is for the future alone.
Tell her too that day and night
I count the hours of pain,
and that one tempting hope
comforts me in love

English Lyrics from "MI Ranchito"

from the Spanish:

Mi Ranchito (My Little Ranch)

Far Away
At the foot of the mountain
Where the sun hides early
My sad little ranch is still there
My work abandoned

There, I passed the years
There, I found my first love
There, were the betrayals
The ones that killed my illusions

Oh heart
You left me
Don't tell me goodbye
Come back
To cheer up the little ranch
That was once my whole life's dream

Wicked one
Your black eyes bewitched me with their look
If I'd never seen them
They wouldn't have caused me such pain

The Golden Road laces up those Red, White and Blue Suede Shoes

Hello out there in Radio Land!

This edition of the Golden Road salutes Independence Day by diving into the deep end of the Grateful Dead Americana pool with plenty of sounds from the long history of the band, and a special appearance of the illustrious Lord Buckley with his hip take on the Boston Tea Party...big thanks to George Moore for the vinyl to disc transfer.

Hope you can tune in and give a listen to a perfect soundtrack for the 4th of July...and be sure to stop by the KDRT/DMA booth at Community Park this upcoming Saturday for some cool treats to beat the heat.
