Cowboy Tracks

Join Nancy around the campfire to hear authentic western music and cowboy poetry. Something deep in your soul will resonate to stories from the early wranglers, Mexican vaqueros, old West adventurers, Silver Screen buckaroos, contemporary real cowboys, and all who appreciate wide open spaces, freedom, and the western lifestyle.

“Go West.” Today’s program is called “Go West” which is the title of a song on our playlist and is also a general descriptor for the songs to come. You’ll hear from the High Country Cowboys, The Cowboy Way, “V” the Gypsy Cowbelle, Donnie Poindexter, Adrian, Jean Prescott and many more. It’s all good music, so enjoy!

Cowboy Tracks for 1:00pm on Oct 5th, 2018

“Bob Wills’ Legacy.” On this special episode of Cowboy Tracks, we’ll hear the musical legacy of Bob Wills. Wills is known as the “King of Western Swing.” He had a massive influence on performers and listeners alike. Many of his 300+ songs are music standards. Today’s show features a few originals performed by his Texas Playboys but most will be versions performed by contemporary artists who are honoring and keeping Wills’ musical legacy alive.

Cowboy Tracks for 1:00pm on Sep 14th, 2018

“Western Writers: Top Song Picks.” A few years back, the members of Western Writers of America voted on the Top 100 Western Songs of All Time. This week, DJ Nancy will play her selections from the lower half of the “100” list and then next week, she’ll pull the best of the best from the top half. Because the Top 100 songs were chosen by writers, we’ll focus on the song lyrics and stories.

Hi Nancy,
I enjoyed visiting with you today on "Cowboy Tracks"
I wanted to set the record straight. During your show, I made a comment about recently deceased, Doris Day. In fact, Doris Day starred in "Calamity Jane" not "Annie Oakley"
Sorry, my mistake... Really love your show... Keep keepin' on with the great tracks!
Oh, BTW... John Fremont's guide and messenger was Kit Carson.

Right now I'm listening to your Western Swing show and it's too wonderful, it's beyond super. It's even really swell. Thank you for this Swing salute. More Swing and more...

Wow, thank you! This was the first time I've done an all-western swing show. Now, I'm encouraged to do more!

Listened to this varied Cowboy time last Friday. There was Cowboy poetry, music, definitions of terms...yes, so much time has pasted we need to know what used to be common words that relate to Cowboy and The West. Tune in for a good time.

Thanks for listening and for your positive comments!
