Misner and Smith to perform at Armadillo Music for 2nd Friday ArtAbout December 8, 2017 6:30PM

KDRT will broadcast direct and live from Armadillo Music in Davis, CA, for 2nd Friday ArtAbout on December 8th.  This month will be a real treat as one of the favorite duos in California perform. Soaring vocal harmonies and story-filled, poetic songwriting, Misner & Smith's sound harkens back to the bedrock of modern American rock and folk. Paying tribute to strong influences like Simon & Garfunkel, The Band, and Buffalo Springfield, they invent a sound all their own, seducing listeners with music that captures longing and belonging in the same moment. Their partnership in music is a search for meaning. The songs yearn for connection, ache for understanding, relish in mystery, and rejoice in creation. In a world that often feels to be crumbling down around us, they dig deep and find hope in simple things, in the beauty that surrounds us all.

Misner & Smith's latest release is Headwaters, a collection of covers. Please join us December 8th for the live broadcast from Armadillo, or if you're outside the listening area, please listen online at kdrt.org.

The Outcome fills the KDRT radio studio on Friday 12/1/17 at 4:00PM on Listening Lyrics

The Outcome is comprised of

Vocals, Guitar, Keys / Jesse Sizemore

Vocals, Guitar / Quinn Hedges

Bass / Mike Strickland

Drums / Andy Dibben

Jesse’s approachable songwriting style melds seamlessly with Quinn’s more elaborate composition method, which leads The Outcome to churn out challenging yet palatable tunes. Andy and Mike provide the big, grooving backbeats and tasty, melodic bass lines over which effects addicts Jesse and Quinn create the textural atmospherics and searing guitar leads that define the band’s sound. With distinct yet complementary singing styles, Quinn and Jesse share lead vocal duties, adding to the band’s diverse interpretation of modern rock. The Outcome has been featured on 98Rock, Sacramento News & Review, First Festival, Skope Magazine, and more. Moody Slough visits Listening Lyrics Friday, October 6, 2017 at 4:00PM

Moody Slough (Pronounced Moody Slooooo) is an acoustic-based project of original tunes. Joe Sanders appreciates more and more the sound of an acoustic guitar and a voice, and the simplicity it brings while writing a song. Over the years, music has always been his main focus.  When writting his music he didn't see these songs as the beginnings of a project. “Moody Slough” is just the name that he slapped on that project once I figured out that it could really be a project. Joe's ultimate dream is to one day be able to pay his rent and bills through playing music.

Dead Wax its Final Vinyl show 6/15/17 - so sad

As George Harrison sang "All Things Must Pass" - Tonight is the final episode of DEAD WAX which was created and hosted by Jesse Deere. I had a hand in getting Jesse on the air but tonight, as he celebrates his 100th and final show, he taught me that music is more than just the joy of hearing it but discovering what makes it so. Dead Wax will leave a big hole in KDRT's line up. Jesse played several genres but the main focus was Americana and vinyl. He alsways had a theme to his show and I loved hearing his comments on why he selected the songs he played. So to sum up his 100 shows on KDRT, we have loved having him in the studio and have been blessed to be able to broadcast his passion of vinyl.

All the best Jesse

Mardi Morillo - a very unique guest this week on Listening Lyrics Friday June 16, 2017

Mardi Morillo is a singer-songwriter out of the Bay Area. In a former life, he worked as a CIO in the healthcare industry. He found his life's passion in music when he quit due to losing partial vision from glaucoma. Born legally blind, this further loss of vision, refocused him to pursue something more meaningful. Something creative. After picking up the guitar to learn one song ("Stop This Train" by John Mayer) he began writing his own songs and music has changed his life.

He is regularly performing at shows throughout California and is a songwriter in residence at Crema Coffee in San Jose. With music that is influenced by many contemporary artists like Adele, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, he aims to inspire others and make universal songs that touch on themes of love, isolation, and hope.
