Enjoy first wave Brittish ska? Me too. Join me and my co-hosts for a listen of The Specials 'The Specials' from 2 Tone records, produced by Elvis Costello. You'll think "isn't this a greatest hits album?" and I'll say "No! Unless you consider that it was The Specials' first album and every song is a hit." They're all here:
Jessica Malone is an award winning singer/ songwriter who was raised in the tall mountains of far northern California. Her original music evokes a sense of wanderlust, self-discovery, positivity and moving forward. On Jessica's latest release, "The Waiting Hours" EP, drums, upright bass, violin, acoustic & electric guitar accompany her powerful and soothing vocals. Her raw and unfiltered approach to folk/ Americana songwriting creates music that will take you back in time, while her heartfelt lyrics will keep you rooted in the present.

Sudwerk Brewing Company regularly gives back to the community through its "Saturday Fundraisers" where a portion of the draft sales are donated to local organizations. This Saturday, March 3rd from 4 to 8pm longtime local band Hardwater will be playing, and KDRT is the recipient of the beer sales donation. Please join us!! We are grateful to Hardwater for suggesting it as a KDRT Fundraiser, and we thank them for the numerous events they have played for local causes, including benefits for Davis Media Access and KDRT over the years. Don't mind the weather, if it rains we're indoors, if not, then join us on that special patio with the picnic tables, and the food truck Koizora will be on hand too.
Tune in for evocative western songs and poems, many about saddling up and riding in the West.
As host of Listening Lyrics I am looking forward to this hour with David Jacobin. As an aging hippie I now have the oppurtunity to talk with someone about changing aspects of the world we live in. For you see this guest not only talks but he walks the talk. David Jacobin uses his unique brand of Resistance Rock music to support social causes in the community, and promote the change he wishes to see in the world. In addition to not only hearing him play some tunes David will talk about a project he is deeply involved with. The Yisrael Family Farm. Their logo says it all "Our mission is to transform the hood for G.O.O.D. using urban agriculture as a tool for community engagement, empowerment and employment."
For those outside the listening area this show will be streamed live on KDRT.
