Armadillo Music and KDRT invite our friends to a special gathering in memory of Bill Wagman, long-time host of Sometimes Folk and The Folk Brothers on KDRT, as well as The Saturday Morning Folk Show on KDVS. If you knew Bill or were a fan of his radio programs and house concerts, please join us in honoring Bill on Monday, Feb. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Armadillo at 207 F St. in downtown Davis.
Nick Saloman brings you IMPLOSION, a groovy cyclone of sounds, every Wednesday at 8 p.m. Pacific. This week, Nick presents a suite of instrumental gems. Catch the show on KDRT 95.7 fm + KDRT.org + the podcast apps!
On today's Hello Davis!, David Abramson interviews Juliette Beck of the YoloSol Project.
On its website, YoloSol says it "cultivates place-based civic engagement and learning about issues of environmental and economic justice in Yolo County through storytelling, and creative nature-based and multimedia cultural activities. YoloSol brings together multimedia artists, cultural workers, and community organizers, who have decades of experience using digital and hands-on technologies and practices, to foster inclusive public participation. We believe that the arts are the best vehicles for fostering dialogue across difference, so that we can work together to build climate resilience and a just transition from the current fossil fuel economy to an equitable, inclusive and sustainable society."
You are cordially invited to join KDRT at Suds & Sounds at Armadillo Music in downtown Davis on Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. Meet & greet K-DiRT friends and fans, grab a sticker, say howdy. Beverages of all sorts are available at the Bootleg Bar. This gathering repeats on the last Wednesday of every month — mark your calendars!
On tonight's show:
One of the new events in Davis for 2026 is a competition, led by a Davis marine biologist whose awards include an Emmy for his camera work, that’s open to anyone willing to make a short movie during the next month. The film must include a Davis-centric prompt to be announced this Wednesday, Jan. 28, and run no longer than 7 minutes. You’ll have about 4 weeks to get it all done.
The goal of the Davis Flash Film Challenge “is just to get people to make movies,” says Craig Musburger on today’s Davisville.“We really want to help kind of build on the creative community of Davis and the surrounding area.”
Musburger is president of Everywhere Science, a Davis nonprofit, but the movies don’t have to use science as their subject. He says he won’t be surprised to see superheroes or romantic comedies among the entries. As long as the entry doesn’t exceed the bounds of a PG-13 rating, “anything goes and everybody’s welcome.”
Please enjoy this replay of a fine Folk Brothers episode, featuring 2021 releases from Keb Mo and Old Crow Medicine Show, Lau, Jon Boden, Rita Hosking and Sean Feder, Rick Shea, and much, much more from their ususal eclectic mix. RIP, Brothers Peter and Bill.
Tonight – Friday, Jan. 23 – at 6 p.m. Pacific on The Electric Compost Heap, DJ Dug Deep plays more songs for cold, foggy late-January evenings – very sweet, and very chill. Somewhere toward the middle of the program, we'll remember a good friend to KDRT and all of Davis, Bill Wagman, whom we lost earlier this week. Hope you can join us via KDRT 95.7 fm + KDRT.org + the podcasts.
Recently, KDRT lost two truly wonderful and creative super-volunteers—friends who helped shape the heart and soul of this station. Diane Crumley and Bill Wagman were long-time members of the KDRT family, deeply committed to community radio and to showing up, week after week, with generosity, curiosity, and care.
Today, I’m sharing an hour of upbeat, sing-along music—not to mark a loss, but to celebrate a life well shared. This hour is about the joy, the laughter, and the connection Diane and Bill brought into our lives.
So stay with me, turn it up, sing along—and let’s celebrate them together.
