Live Tracks goes Brazilian with "Som Nosso" concert, Bossa Nova, and more

This edition of Live Tracks features a concert recording of the local Latin jazz group "Som Nosso" (our sound) who played with Yolo Mambo at the Thursday Live! show at the Odd Fellows Hall Feb. 2. An international band, its members hail from Brazil, Sweden, Mexico and Davis. Listeners are also treated to Bossa Nova from the classic "Jazz Samba" recording with Stan Getz & Charlie Byrd circa 1962. To honor International Women's Day, the second hour of Live Tracks highlights several local female singer/songwriters, including Eve West Bessier, Rita Hosking, Megan Smith, Katie Henry, Linda Duval & Cathy Speck.

Run Away! World's longest Runaway Jim, 11-29-1997

yolo archive Since the night of its live Ohio debut back in 1990, Runaway Jim gets played a lot...as in every three or four shows. According to the most precise of statistics, it's been played 1,200 times (22.57% of all shows). But this version, clockin' in at just under an hour, is special. There is no competition for this, one of the craziest, darkest, lightest, most entertaining Runaway Jims ever. It was performed at the Worcester Centrum, Worcester, MA, on Nov. 29, 1997. Enjoy!
