We're in the big time, baby...Radio City Music Hall

What's more fun than a rockin' Phish show? How about a rockin' Phish show in one of the plushest golden indoor venues in the country? May 21, 2000 was the first of a two-night run at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Ahhh...nothing feels as good as thick fluffy carpeting tickling your bare dancing feet whilst you boogie to First Tube, Gotta Jiboo, Twist >Piper. Seriously. Fun. My only complaint was (and continues to be...) the complete absence of those scrumptious long-legged Rockettes. What else could they have been doing that night? What's more fun than Phish? Enjoy the show!

SPAC again: Best show of 2004

It's true, this is the second week in a row playing shows from the Saratoga (N.Y.) Performing Arts Center. But the second set goes off. It's easily the most far-out show of 2004. HPH starts with part of Set I from June 20, 2004 and then slides right in to the Sea of Sound. Here's the setlist for Set II (in case you have forgotten): Seven Below > Ghost >Twist >YEM. That is all. One of the best Twists of all time. Don't miss it.

Hot off the press!

Tonight we get to hear a show from this summer - July 6 at SPAC, to be precise. The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (Saratoga, N.Y.) is a lush and green outdoor venue. Tonight's show is an historical event, featuring the first-ever Tube that sets sail into another song (Psychokiller!)... and then sails back into Tube. Henceforth, this shall go down in Phish-tory as the Tube-erang show (at least in my setbook). If that's not enough, there are any number of "tucking" references, as Jon Fishman has recently developed an affinity for tucking his drummer dress into his polka-dotted panties in his own public little mini show. This one's got a whole lotta great jams, so tune in and enjoy your bad self!

Hooked on quadrophonics!

I am certainly not the first phan to comment upon the grandness of gesture in nearly every Phish show from 1995. Unsurprisingly, then, Halloween '95 spread out beyond-the-beyond with a Set II musical costume of The Who's 1973 album, Quadrophenia. Played from start to finish, without a single note, groan or horn omitted, if you like The Who, tonight you will enjoy the Helping Phriendly Hour. Special perk: The last 40 of our precious minutes together are consumed by one of the longest YEMs ever from Set III of this very special night. Many thanks and much gratitude for our warm and wonderful host of the evening, Cliff Gamble. He played the part to perfection!

Deer Creek, baby!

With those big midwestern skies and some very chill on-site camping, any show at Deer Creek in Noblesville, Indiana is set up for greatness...but this is Phish, man. Best Show Ever. Tonight's HPH is a blend from Aug. 10 and 11, 1997. Tune in for one of the longest versions of Cities (Talking Heads, 1979), featuring Page McConnell's eerie and mysterious theremin. Then stay tuned for Good Times, Bad Times drifting into a surreal theremin solo. After that, we move to Set 2 from Aug. 11 in its entirety. Tonight's recording is an audience tape including some intermittent sounds of the surrounds. Enjoy!

What's your favorite way to spend July 4th?

Obviously, you would like to spend it boogey-ing at a Phish show...so let's do just that. Tonight's show features Set 2 from July 4, 1999. It opens with a kick-ass Ghost and has an extra-tight, bass-heavy Mike's Song near the end. During the second hour, we offer part of Farm Aid, a benefit show from Oct. 3, 1998. Specifically, tune in for 30 minutes of Phish rockin' out with Neil Young on Runaway Jim > Arc > Down By the River. It's a musical treat for the holiday season. Enjoy!

Hidden Gem...

You might be tempted to skip today's show, as the first 45 minutes are a repeat from May 13th's Lemonwheel extravaganza...but that would be a grave mistake, indeed. Your well-intentioned DJ finally arrives around that time to switch the re-broadcast to a live show featuring the first set from the Gorge at George, Washington in August, 2011. From the Kill Devil Falls opener to a David Bowie set closer, rest assured there is much to hear and rejoice in between the two.

Long live the lizards!

The time has come, dear listeners, for us to share in the epic tale of Colonel Forbin and the sacred lost land of Gamehendge. For those who have not yet heard of of the lizards...and those who crave the sweet melodies of Tela and long for just one more narration of The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday, tonight's show is just for you. Broadcast live from our own Crest Theater in nearby Sacramento, the date is March 22, 1993. TaleTeller Trey, our favorite sexy redheaded guitarist, wrote the song-filled story as his senior thesis at Goddard College in Vermont, way back in the late 1980s. Seriously, the songs are some of the band's best, and the tale is especially poignant in today's stormy and volatile world. Enjoy!
