The Folk Brothers Show Visits the Old and the New as Brother Peter Flies Solo this Week on Aug 19th, 2020

This morning I flew solo, revisiting some 70's classics, as they were - John Martyn's "Spencer The Rover" - or as reimagined - Nick Drake's "Black Eyed Dog" as interpreted by Ben Harper and Rhiannon Giddens - or as retold - "On The Road To Find Out" by Yusef/Cat Stevens. And lots of new music by Bonny Light Horseman, Fay Hield, Caoimhin O Raghallaigh and Dan Trueman, Shirley Collins, Cinder Well, The Jayhawks, Dirk Powell and Rainy Eyes, as well as Mark Barnett and Sarah Jaroz. Fiddler Mike Barnett suffered a massive cerebral hemorage in late July. His friends and family have created a Go Fund Me campaign - "The Mike Barnett Recovery Fund" - to help defray costs for his recovery.

The Folk Brothers for 10:00am on Aug 5th, 2020

This morning we played new music from Finbar Furey, Tui (a new fiddle/banjo project from Jake Blount and Libby Weitnauer) and The Kronos Quartet and Friends (celebrating the music of Pete Seeger).   Also a set of music - from The Spell Song project's Karine Polwart and Secou Keiya, Emily Barker, and ISHILA - dedicated to Davis' wonderful and diverse canopy of trees.   Finally. Brother Bill bookended Bob Dylan's career - from an interview with WBAI's Cynthia Gooding in March, 1962,  to The Bob's recently released studio album "Rough and Rowdy Ways".   And more!

Davis resident, Dave Nachmanoff is an award-winning singer-songwriter and renowned guitarist.  He tours nationally and internationally as a solo act, as well as valued accompanist to Al Stewart.  Over the many years he has resided in Davis, Dave has been a generous supporter of this community.  In a rare local appearance, Dave will be doing a benefit concert on December 12th for Yolo Food Trucks who are raising the funds to purchase a new refrigerated truck.   Dave will be joining the Folk Brothers live in the KDRT studio between 10 and 11 AM on Wednesday, Dec. 9th.   He’ll bring his guitar, play some songs, talk about his storied musical career, and tell us why we heard him singing in Starbucks across North America last month. Please join us!
