Hey Doug Deep -

Thanks for posting a playlist from your show...excellent material and theme. The inclusion alone of Harlem Nocturne by Johnny Otis is especially cool as he did as much for music and radio as just about anyone on the West Coast for a long, long time.

"Ran into a rain storm, ducked back into a bar door. It was all coming down, but not a drop on me."

Rod

Hi Rod,
Yep, Johnny was one of the main men back in the day...we are grateful to him so much. That version of "Harlem Nocturne" is a late ('90's?) recording that was released on Arhoolie called "Spirit of the Black Territory Bands". Hope you had the tarp of over heap to keep it warm and dry. "Oh, the wind and rain!" We wish that a lot more of that would head this way. Nice set of rainy weather tunes yerself on The Grapevine, too, ya know.
