Dinner Bell Rings For George

Hey There K-Dirt Listeners...

This mortal world has lost a helluva man today, but at the same time there is a new angel out there looking after all of us. Now, he may not look like your typical angel...but believe me, his spirit touched many.

In this edition of the Dinner Bell Roundup we went off the tracks and pulled a bunch of tunes off of the shelf of life and just let 'em roll.

"Has anybody here, seen my old friend George? Can you tell me where he's gone? Thought I saw him walking up over the hill... with Abraham, Martin & John."

Keep your dial tuned to K-Dirt this week...we've got a few more special moments to share with you about George Moore.

The Grapevine Goes Tribal With Dr. John

Hey K-Dirt listeners...this past week, The Grapevine featured the new record by the one & only, Dr. John. It is called, "Tribal" and is a knock out of classic New Orleans roots sound with the classic Dr. John touch of wonderful piano and a vocal style that can't duplicated. The icing on the cake is that Dr. John has really come up with some lyrics that are incredibly topical and deal with so much of what is currently goin' down in our country. Really think you'll dig it!

Just head on over to the programs/archives section and clickity-click on The Grapevine broadcast from October 7th and you'll be all set. For those locals that wanna pull in sounds off the K-Dirt antenna, the replay is this upcoming Monday, from 3 to 4 pm.

Thanks for keeping in tune with KDRT.

The Legendary Doug James and the sounds of The Hucklebucks on The Grapevine August 12th

It is my pleasure to host a visit to the KDRT studio by the legendary Doug James of The Hucklebucks, one of Sacramento's very best blues bands from a LONG time back. The Hucklebucks have played all over the greater Tri-County region and to points beyond. Winners of the Sacramento News & Review SAMMIES award for Best Blues Band, these guys have a new record out called "Juke Box Blues". They will be playing a record release party at Sacramento's infamous Torch Club on Friday, September 24th, but listeners of KDRT and The Grapevine can hear a special preview of "Juke Box Blues" on August 12th....LIVE from 7 to 8 p.m. Doug will not only hand pick some tunes from "Juke Box Blues", but will also spin some tunes from some of his favorite blues musicians that absolutely "stop time". Join us on K-DIRT for some cool sounds and an exclusive listen to the new record from The Hucklebucks. Doug will also be ringing up a copy of "Juke Box Blues" to a listener on the air.

The Golden Road's Annual "Days Between" Salute to Jerry Garcia

On Sunday, August 8th, the Golden Road will be airing it's annual broadcast to salute the memory of Jerry Garcia and all the wonderful music he created during his time on this rock. The "Days Between" represent his birthday - August 1st, and the day of his passing - August 9th. Dead Heads and fans of his sound have kept a new, but nice tradition going by celebrating Jerry in their own way during this period each year.

During this broadcast of the Golden Road, you will be treated to a bunch of cherry picked sounds that will encompass just about every style that Jerry immersed himself in...folk, bluegrass, jazz, classic R & B, country, reggae, the blues and of course, the unique good ol' Grateful Dead style.

The show will air live on August 8th from 7 to 9 pm, will then be replayed on August 13th from 10 pm to 12 midnight and August 14th from 3 to 5 pm. And you can always catch the archived broadcast any time at http://www.kdrt.org/station/archives/153

There were days
and there were days
and there were days I know
when all we ever wanted
was to learn and love and grow

Once we grew into our shoes
we told them where to go
walked halfway around the world
