Highlighting the Byrds

Live Tracks Highlights The Byrds: May 24, 2007

Live Tracks devotes its weekly show May 24 to a look at the Byrds—the rock band known for the 1960s hits “Mr. Tambourine Man” and “Turn! Turn! Turn!”, but which also had a longer and more varied history than most people know.

Most of its original members continue to play—Roger McGuinn, whose 12-string guitar helped define the band’s sound, is due at the Mondavi Center next February. Other former members include Chris Hillman, who has played the Palms in Winters, and David Crosby of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

Tune in 8 p.m. Thursday to learn more about this influential, wide-ranging and tumultuous band. Jim will be joined in the studio by longtime Davis resident and Byrds expert, Bill Buchanan.
