Attention all ‘76 Weenies! This week the Golden Road takes us back to Fall 1976 for Grateful Dead music recorded live at the Capital Centre in Washington, DC on September 25th and the Onondaga County War Memorial in Syracuse on September 28th. These shows were released as Dick’s Picks Volume Twenty and it makes up this week’s music, which will include a few tracts from the Cap Centre and the second set from Syracuse.

Btw: Back in the olden days of DeadNetCentral (DNC), those of us who liked 1976 Grateful Dead were deemed '76 Weenies. Then, I am a very proud '76 Weenie!

About Wayne Hagen

Wayne is a founding member of the California Jug Band Association (CJBA) and a member of its Board of Directors. In 2002 Wayne and his banjo-playing buddy Andy began the International Jug Band Festival in Sutter Creek, California. The festival has given birth to new jug band festivals as far away as Louisville, Kentucky, as well as the CJBA.

Wayne has been playing jug since 1979 and he'll pull out his jug and play with anyone. He also tries to play the mandolin and is a big fan of Vol Stevens and Yank Rachell. His passion for jug band music has turned him into a walking encyclopedia of the genre. Go ahead, ask him a question -- we dare ya. He says that getting a chance to share his love for jug band music on KDRT is a great joy.

About Rodriguez

On the air at KDRT since February of 2007, Rod has hosted a true variety of music broadcasts. Beginning with the Grateful Dead based program, THE GOLDEN ROAD, then starting up a cool look at the sounds of Classic R & B, Soul, Funk and the Blues on THE GRAPEVINE, and now spinning a weekly 2 hour musical compass on SILVER NINE VOLT HEART, "Rodriguez" thoroughly enjoys the pure therapeutic effect that music has on his soul and right on down to his bones!
