DHS Football
Congratulations to the DHS football team for winning the first home game of the season against Edison High 36-0 (image from The Hub). Rocket talks about Persepolis, a movie about a young girl growing up in revolutionary Iran, as well as lunchtime rap battles at school. GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) clubs are starting up for the year at both Holmes and DHS. The Holmes GSA meets at lunch on Wednesdays in P-1 and the DHS GSA meets some Fridays in L-20, Mr. Wheeler's room. GSAs offer a safe space for students as well as a great way to get involved in LGBTQIA+ issues. Another great resource is the UCD LGBTQIA Resource Center and their glossary. In other news DHS back to school night is this Thursday. This show also includes some exerpts from "How Did It Begin" by Dr. R. & L. Brasch and " The Painted Word" by Phil Cousineau as well as "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day, "Coconut Dracula" by Islander (happy birthday, Mr. Bryant!), and "Same Love" by Macklemore.
